In Plastic Bags The Liquids Go,
Will They Get Checked Nobody Knows
.Electrics in The Tray Their Phones Follow To.
Now They Feel Naked What Are They Going To Do.
Belts Come Off Will Their Trousers Fall Down,
Coats and Jackets Follow on The Merry Go Round.
Wallets and Watches Spend Time in a Tray,
Now Queuing Up For Their X-Ray.
Shoes and Trainers are Given The Boot,
As The Final Items Go Through The Shoot.
Its My Turn Now To Go Through The X-Ray,
Will The Machine Have Its Own Way?
Limbering Up Like an Athlete in a Race,
My Head Tilts From Side to Side,
As I Set Off at My Own Pace.
Deep Breaths and I’m on a Roll,
Will it Beep Nobody Knows.
As I Come Through to The Other Side,
Like I Have Just Appeared on Stars In Their Eyes.
“Tonight Matthew I Am Going To Be” Beep Beep!!!
The Alarm is Set Off Now I’m in Deep.
“It’s My Metal Hips” is What I Say,
As I Take A Position For Another X-Ray.
A Few Seconds Later I’m Told I Can Go,
Do You Think They Believe Me Well Nobody Knows.
Round and Round The Trays All Go,
As We Stand and Wait For Our Belongings to Show.
Through The Curtains and Out Again,
Round and Round They Go Again.
I Think My Shoes Have Done a Runner,
And My Belt Has Worked Its Way Loose,
As The Trays are Emptied One By One,
And Ready For Reuse.
Looking Down at My Wrist My Watch is Not Seen,
Then I Realise It is Still on That Bloody Machine,
LETS START AGAIN…
As I Look Up to See The Time,
My Shoes Have Arrived At The Finish Line.
My Belt Has Buckled Under The Strain,
As We All Reunite Once Again.
The Airport Lounge Now Beckons Me,
While Walking Passed The Duty Free.
Cigarettes to Smoke and Alcohol To Drink,
Cheap Perfume Takes to The Air,
Kicking Up Quite a Stink.
It is Time to Relax and I’m All Stressed Free,
Just Waiting For The Plane and Another Country.
Watching The Screen For The Gate to Appear,
As Flight Numbers Come Up and Then Disappear.
Rolling Over and Over They Come Back Again,
But There is Still No Sign of My Numbered Plane.
Will My Number Ever Show?
We’ll All I Can Say is I Don’t Know.
The Stress Is Coming Back Again,
Now I’ve Been Here Ages Still Waiting For My Plane.
Then a Voice is Heard From The Sky,
Not Really it’s The Airport Tannoy.
So Clear But Nervous in What She Had to Say,
“Flight Number KL1074 to Amsterdam is Cancelled,” (pause)
“And Won’t Be Flying Today.”
Not Like The Picture in My Passport,
My Face Has Now Changed,
Thinking What I Should Be Doing Next,
As It Travels Through My Brian.
A Hotel is Offered to Stay Overnight,
Then The Following Day to Get The Next Flight.
In Plastic Bags The Liquids Go,
Will They Get Checked You Would Of Thought So
Electrics in The Tray My Phone Follows To.
Now I Feel Naked What Am I Going To Do.
My Belt Comes Off Will My Trousers Fall Down,
A Jacket Then Follows on The Merry Go Round.
Its My Turn Now To Go Through The X-Ray,
I’m Sure The Machine Will Have its Own Way.
Will it Beep I Guarantee it Will Go,
My Hips Don’t Lie I Should Know.
Beep Beep Beep!!!! Here We Go Again,
Now They’re Getting to Know Me By My First Name.
Had a Second X-Ray I Am Told I Can Go,
Do They Believe Me I Think So.
The Airport Lounge Again Beckons Me,
But I Am Still Not Interested in The Duty Free.
Forget The Cigarettes They Can Go Up In Smoke,
The Drink and That Perfume Which Gets Down Your Throat.
I Just Want My Plane to be on Time,
And The Screen To Give Me That Call Sign.
Rolling Over and Over Here We Go Again,
Still Waiting For My Flight Numbered Plane.
Gate Numbers Appear as Passengers Disappear,
As Seats All Around Me are Vacated,
Then in a Slow Motion Scene,
I>>>Gaze>>>Up>>>At>>>The Screen,
Just As It Becomes Updated.
My Number Appears I Give A Silent Cheer,
A Feeling That I Have Never Waited.
Hand Luggage On My Shoulder And Seat Ticket in One Hand,
I’m Off For My Adventure to The City of Amsterdam.
Checking My Belongings While Walking On The Go,
Watch on My Wrist as Time Begins to Flow (tick),
Phone in My Jacket So I Know I Can Be Called (tick),
As The Gate is Getting Closer The Flight Number On The Wall
Wallet in My Pocket Which I Have Just Felt (tick),
Then I Realise What Is Missing My Snake Of A Belt.
Holding Up My Trousers Before They Escape,
I Casually Walk Through My Flight Numbered Gate.
Feeling Embarrassed Not Knowing What To Do,
I Need To Find My Seat and Look Out At The View.
Now The Procedures Come Into Play,
Cabin Crew Pointing The Exits This Way.
Life Jacket Over Your Head If We End Up In The Sea,
A Light and Whistle to Keep You Company.
Do Not Inflate!! Until Your Out Of The Plane,
To Do It Inside Would Be Silly and Insane.
Then Last But Not Least As If They Cannot Resist,
How To Fasten Your Seat BELT,
Are They Taking The Piss.
Taxing To The Runway and We Are Ready To Go,
Engines Up and Roaring All Lining Up In A Row.
My Experience At This Airport Has Had Its Ups and Downs,
Like This Plane When Takes Off and Lands in Amsterdam.
Now I Just Want to Get Out Of Plane Sight,
And Put it All Behind Me Until Next Time I Get A Flight.
